New York Folklore Society business office and Gallery of New York Folklore. Folklore and folklife - including traditional arts, belief, traditional ways of work and leisure, adornment and celebrations - are cultural ways in which a group maintains and passes on a shared way of life. The New York Folklore Society exists to preserve and promote the unique living heritage of the state through publication, technical assistance, educational resources and regular conferences. The Gallery of New York Folklore exhibits and sells on a consignment basis, the works of traditional artists of New York State representing a wide range of traditions, heritages, ethnicities and nationalities. Gallery hours 10AM - 3:30PM Monday through Saturday. Sundays 10AM to 2PM from May through October.
