ABOUT THE BEYOND: COMPOSER'S CUT
36 years after the creation of Lucio Fulci and Fabio Frizzi's cinematic masterpiece, Maestro Frizzi returns to realize one of the boldest projects of his life: a composer’s cut of the soundtrack to the legendary director's most applauded film, The Beyond.
We are used to having theatrical cuts and director’s cuts, but nobody ever dared to conceive and perform a movie version following the musician’s point of view. Performed with an energized rock prog strength by the composer's famed 7-piece Frizzi 2 Fulci ensemble, the Maestro's score is a true expanded version of itself - with great respect for its original identity and few moments of silence - all realized with renewed skill and mastery via the important ally of 36 years of added proficiency.
ABOUT MAESTRO FABIO FRIZZI
Fabio Frizzi studied classical guitar with Maestro Sergio Notaro and piano and composition with Maestro Vittorio Taborra. In love with his profession and eclectic in nature, he has had a great deal of experience in many different areas of music. From 1974 to 1979, he was a member of the trio Bixio-Frizzi-Tempera, but the flagship of Fabio’s career is certainly his lengthy occupation in the field of move scoring, with over 70 films and many TV series, working with many popular directors.
He has written music for many different film genres, from comedies to romance, action movies, Westerns, etc., but surely the aspect that has given him the most recognition and appreciation is his lengthy collaboration with director Lucio Fulci, particularly in relation to horror films. In 2003, Quentin Tarantino included in the soundtrack of his Kill Bill: Volume 1 one of Frizzi’s themes from Sette note in nero (The Psychic), directed by Lucio Fulci in 1977.
The Maestro’s career has also included many collaborations with theaters, radio and television, many experiences as an orchestra conductor for concerts and shows, and compositions of classical works for guitar and ballet.
ABOUT SAINT FRANKENSTEIN
The most recent film to be scored by Maestro Frizzi, SAINT FRANKENSTEIN recently won the Best Short Film award at the 2016 Transilvania International Film Festival, and also the Audience Award at the 2016 Weekend of Terror in Nuremberg, Germany. Director Scooter 'Shatterdead' McCrea will be in attendance.
